Alfalfa (Medicago sativa) is also known as Lucerne. This herb is widely used in Ayurveda for treating various ailments. The Arabs gave the name Al-Fal-Fa, meaning “Father Of All Foods“. It is one of the richest sources of the many minerals and vitamins necessary for great health; it grows up to 30 feet deep into the ground and stores many minerals that are not present at the surface but which are present in deeper layers of soil. It has several vitamins, such as vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B6, vitamin C, vitamin E and vitamin K, as well as zinc, carotene, iron, calcium and potassium. It is also a good source of protein. These minerals and vitamins play a vital role in strengthening the body, particularly promoting the growth of bones, and it assists in the treatment of arthritis. Alfalfa is used for lowering cholesterol and blood sugar levels and it is said to be hormone balancing. It is useful in the treatment of kidney, bladder and prostrate disorders. It alkalizes and detoxifies the body, particularly the liver.

 

Usage: One measuring spoon (2g) with hot water or milk. Consume the entire amount or divide it into two or three doses throughout the day. Recommended daily intake 1-6 grams. Not recommended during pregnancy.
